A $3.5 million renovation at Oakland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, and the achievement of a five-star rating in U.S. News and World Report’s 2017 “Best Nursing Homes” signal a dedication to quality services and patient care at the Oakland skilled nursing facility. Tryko Partners in 2015 acquired the 215-bed facility, which is operated by its healthcare affiliate, Marquis Health Services.

Marquis has completed extensive upgrades throughout Oakland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, which offers sub-acute rehab, dementia care and long-term care wings, and specializes in cardio pulmonary and orthopedic rehab. A newly renovated, 3,500-square foot gym features a modern, bright feel and state-of-the-art rehabilitation therapy equipment. This includes a smart car utilized to help patients simulate daily living during the rehabilitation process. The renovation program also included updates to 50 rooms within the building’s sub-acute rehab unit, featuring 32 private suites as well as semi-private suites.

“The overall theme of the building improvements focused on enhancing our comfortable, home-like setting for patients and families alike,” said Josh Brown, administrator at Oakland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, which is located at 20 Break Neck Road. “For example, we added pull-out couches to the renovated patient rooms for loved ones who want to stay overnight. We also expanded the building’s common-area lounge space with pool tables and computer stations.”

In addition to its second consecutive “top performing” rating in U.S. News and World Report, Oakland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center has received a five-star rating from the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). “We pride ourselves on providing expert care, ensuring great outcomes for our patients to the best of our ability, 365 days a year,” said Norman Rokeach, chief executive officer of Marquis Health Services.

The medical advisory team at Oakland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center includes a geriatrician, physiatrist, orthopedic physician, cardiologist, pulmonologist, urologist, psychiatrist and certified wound care specialist. At all of its skilled nursing facilities, Marquis Health Services is known for its innovative programming and partnerships with area hospitals. “We work closely with regional healthcare providers to develop programs that meet needs at a regional level for superior skilled nursing care,” added Rokeach.

Based in Brick, N.J., Tryko Partners and Marquis currently are involved in 2,400 skilled nursing beds (including several additional U.S. News and World Report five-star rated facilities). Tryko Partners also maintains a portfolio of more than 7,200 multifamily units along the Eastern Seaboard and in the Midwest.
